Project: MAP4Fostercare

The MAP4FosterCare community brings together foster parents, caregivers, and professionals who share a common commitment to supporting children through more informed, reflective, and compassionate parenting practices. Participants join the programme with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and expectations, ranging from those at the beginning of their foster care journey to long-term foster parents and professionals eager to share their knowledge and learn from others.

Across the training programme, the community has been shaped as a space for both learning and mutual support. Participants consistently express a strong motivation to improve communication with children, better understand their emotional and developmental needs, and navigate challenges with greater confidence and awareness. Beyond acquiring new knowledge and skills, many value the opportunity to exchange experiences, realise they are not alone in their struggles, and develop a shared language around caregiving, reflection, and growth.

Through interactive training modules, supervision sessions, and collective reflection, the MAP4FosterCare community evolves into a learning network where members contribute actively, support one another, and build practical insights together. This sense of belonging and shared purpose strengthens participants’ motivation to apply what they learn in everyday life and to continue developing as reflective caregivers beyond the programme itself.
