A Journey Growing Through Community

The Be Festive project started with a simple question: How do young people engage with traditional festivals today?

Rather than seeing festivals only as cultural events inherited from the past, we approach them as living spaces where young people can participate, learn, create, and connect with different communities.

As the project grows, a vibrant community is growing around it as well. Just like in every project we take part in as PUHU, we are trying to build this community carefully — through trust, collective learning, and shared experiences.

Our community brings together young people, youth workers, students, artists, people interested in cultural work, and anyone looking for new experiences from different cities and countries. Throughout the project, we participate in festivals together, create new things, and build connections across cultures.

Mobility Activities Within the Project

May 1st, 2026 | Cagliari, Italy

One of the first stops on this journey was Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. As a community, we joined a five-day festival programme where we took part in cultural activities, produced creative content, learned together with participants from different countries, and shared our experiences.

In August, we will continue this journey at another festival in Jordan. But the story does not end there. After returning from Italy and Jordan, we will organize our own festival in Turkey together with young people. It will be a collective space filled with dance, music, design, costumes, stories, and shared creativity.

At the end of the project, we will also host the final Be Festive closing event.
