Ethnography for All

Ethnography

Ethnography is the collection of data by observing particular ways of life and by listening to particular individuals and groups. It offers insight and the actors’ point of view. That is what makes ethnography a unique way of studying cultures. In the contemporary world, it has evolved into a method for institutions and companies, as well. Migration, human mobility, and emerging technologies impose institutions and companies to react rapidly to the changes. Thus, a human-based understanding is essential for adaptive strategies. Ethnography serves to develop strategies and establish organizational structures that will survive changing dynamics.

Online Ethnography

Ethnography in the contemporary world has diversified into online ethnography, as well. Social media, online communities, and virtual marketplaces are the subjects of this new dimension of ethnography. This new form of data collection covers all types of digital material. It is an alternative to investigating the phenomena manifesting online. It serves for both understanding dynamics and generating strategies.

Partnership for EU-Funding Programs

PUHU adapts the idea that strong international partnerships are essential for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary solutions to global issues. Following this idea, PUHU generates new ideas to develop and/or contribute to projects in the frame of EU-funded programs.

With a unique approach with insight from diverse disciplines from anthropology (psychological and cognitive anthropology) to information systems, PUHU offers a wide range of contributions for project proposals and implementations.

PUHU positions itself in the middle of any social research and development initiative, from an idea generation process of a project to the industrial implementation of a social solution, with its web of expertise.

Employing qualitative and quantitative research techniques; PUHU

  • gathers data by listening, observing, and using databases
  • analyzes the data (in terms of relevant theories)
  • detects the problem (if any)
  • reports
  • offers consultancy for refinement and/or adaptive strategies

PUHU employs the knowledge of the disciplines for particular training and solutions equipping these with technology. If required PUHU would

  • create specific end-to-end information systems for advanced analysis of issues,
  • integrate diverse legacy systems for the collection and interpretation of big data,
  • enable software teams for the purpose of any specific action resulting from the analysis.
